The character known as IT is the main antagonist in A Wrinkle in Time. IT is a gigantic brain-shaped being which controls all of the people of Camazotz. IT's main agent is a man known only as the Man with Red Eyes.

At one point in the story, IT possesses Charles Wallace (who is redeemed through Meg's love after she comes back to the planet) into evil.
IT is referred to as the source of all evil. IT spreads rapidly across the universe, making its way into the hearts of men, and corrupting them. IT makes people jealous, selfish, and cruel.
IT is solely referred to by its name, without pronouns. As a disembodied brain, IT is neither male nor female.
2003 Film[]
In the 2003 iteration, IT communicates exclusively through the Man with Red Eyes.
2018 Film[]
Unlike in previous iterations, in the 2018 film, IT can communicate directly to Meg without the help of a human interpreter.

In all variations of A Wrinkle in Time, IT is described (or depicted) as a brain-like creature.
